Heritage, Reinvention, and Craft: Three Voices Behind FACES of Fashion

ATLANTA — Fashion rarely begins where it ends up. GZTV's upcoming three-episode series, FACES of Fashion, follows three creatives whose paths to the industry prove exactly that: a hurdler-turned-designer, a sculptural artist shaped by two continents, and a costume specialist whose precision with a needle became its own form of storytelling. Together, their episodes trace how heritage becomes expression, and how personal reinvention can quietly reshape an industry.
Before fashion, Octavius Terry was one of the nation's fastest hurdlers, a three-time NCAA champion at Georgia Tech, 2006 Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and U.S. representative at the 1995 and 1997 World Championships, followed by a decade-plus in corporate finance, including Wells Fargo. A friend's question about a forgotten dream led him back to school at FIDM, where he built his menswear brand, now OCTAVIUS MARSION, worn by Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Chris Brown. In 2026, he competed on Project Runway Season 22, representing Atlanta, proof that a dream deferred isn't a dream lost.
Episode 2 turns to Sehar Hammad, whose work bridges sculpture and luxury design. Her Pakistani heritage and international influences shape a body of work that evolved from fine art into wearable couture, identity translated into material form. Her episode shows how cultural roots and global exposure combine into a singular creative voice.
The series closes with Deondre' Cumberbatch, a Bermuda-raised bridal designer, alterations specialist, and costume designer whose credits include Theatrical Outfit's 2024 production of A Raisin in the Sun. Where Terry's story is reinvention and Hammad's is cultural fusion, Cumberbatch's is craft: the exacting, often invisible skill of making a garment fit a story. Her episode traces how a passion for tailoring and costume design matured into a voice of its own.
Three different paths, one shared idea: personal history doesn't just inform fashion; it builds it. FACES of Fashion brings all three stories to GZTV in Fall 2026. Download the app to be the first to watch when it releases this fall!
