MILAN — The Dalí e la Moda is the first major international exhibition highlighting the relationship between Salvador Dalí and fashion taking place from September 24, 2026 to January 31, 2027 at the Palazzo Reale in Milan. How big of an impact did Salvador Dalí make in the art and fashion community?

The exhibition brings together more than 200 rare works by Salvador Dalí, with the heart of it all being Gala Dalí, his muse, model, and business manager. One of his most well known pieces showcased, is his historical collaboration with Elsa Schiaparelli, which birthed the world's first wearable surrealist art. It even features the personal wardrobes of Salvador and Gala Dalí, which are being displayed in Italy for the very first time.

Salvador Dalí was a Spanish painter who refused to be boxed into the fine art aesthetic and became one of the most prominent figures of the Surrealism movement. Gala Dalí, a Russian-born intellectual and his wife, played a major role in his success by managing their finances, negotiating with art galleries, and helping build his commercial reputation. Dalí relied heavily on Gala, so much so that he famously signed many of his paintings with both of their names.

Dalí e la Moda doesn’t just present Dalí as a painter but his deep connection to fashion as well. He embedded his surrealist artistic view into clothing, window displays, and magazine covers as high-art mediums. The expedition showcases how Dalí’s helped shape modern and contemporary fashion, influencing designers and fashion houses like Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior, and Moschino.

Dalí e la Moda is one of the most extensive and carefully assembled collections of Dalí’s fashion work ever brought together.
