The MET Gala 2026, “Fashion Is Art,” was incredibly well executed. The looks were stunning, and many stood out. There were also some that did not fit the theme, and they definitely heard about it on social media. I will dive into GZTV’s personal favorites and the stories that stood out to us. eBay and Thom Browne were the leaders of this year’s MET Gala, dressing over 10 different celebrities, with eBay using only upcycled pieces, a defining moment in the world of sustainable fashion. This is especially important, as the fashion industry has long been known for generating significant waste, particularly in the era of fast fashion.

Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Blue Ivy
They absolutely shut down the carpet, no, literally. Upon their arrival, you could see people rushing off the carpet to give the Carter family their moment. The entire family was styled by Olivier Rousteing, who is behind many of Beyoncé’s most iconic looks. Beyoncé told an interviewer, “I am here for Blue and to experience this moment through her.” As one of the youngest to hit the carpet, it’s no surprise this was such an iconic moment.
Beyoncé wore an incredible diamond and sterling silver dress that celebrated the bodies of beautiful women of all sizes. She made a statement that aligned with the theme, where each look deserves to be in a museum. With a diamond crown and a long fur train, Beyoncé showed why she is the Queen of Pop.
Blue wore a high-collar white dress with a structured corset, setting the tone for her look. In Beyoncé’s words, “Blue is ready for the moment.” Jay-Z wore a triple-breasted suit with a diamond tie piece, simple, yet defining. Together, this family embodied the idea that fashion is art at the highest level.

eBay
eBay was a key partner for this year’s MET Gala, contributing to looks for LUAR, SZA, Paloma Elsesser, and more. Paloma Elsesser’s dress was sourced from a collection of garments dating from the 1920s to the 1940s, resulting in a truly unique design that incorporated tin elements. Styled by Francesco Risso, the look proved that style never goes out of fashion. Pieces that haven’t been worn in decades, or have been passed down through generations, can still be reimagined and worn today.
SZA shut down the carpet in an elegant yellow dress inspired by the Wiener Werkstätte. With Wiener artwork currently housed in the MET Museum, the look carried a strong sense of history. It stood out as exceptionally on theme, demonstrating how fashion can become wearable art. This avant-garde piece deserves attention for how it seamlessly combined sustainability, creativity, and historical influence.
Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne wore custom Public School New York looks, also sourced from eBay. Their outfits expanded on the traditional suit, transforming it into something bold and distinctive that is sure to inspire fashion enthusiasts around the world. As the creative minds behind WISDM, much of their work reflects a sense of timeless elegance and storytelling. They showed how a classic design like a suit can be reimagined into something avant-garde, a direction that is likely to influence trends in the upcoming fall award season.

Thom Browne
Thom Browne was our personal favorite designer on the carpet this year. Thom is always on theme and consistently creates pieces that are front-cover worthy. One of our standout favorites was Amy Sherald, who wore a custom piece referencing her own artwork. The look featured a woman with a red headpiece, white gloves, a teacup accessory, and a striking dress split between solid royal blue and polka dots.
The final piece embodied the energy of her artistic style, with a black-and-white polka dot design and a dramatic leg slit. The red headpiece was paired with a miniature red dog bag, showcasing incredible attention to detail and a precise interpretation of the theme. The look was completed with white three-inch stiletto heels, an embodiment of fashion at its highest artistic form.
Thom Browne also dressed Adut Akech, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Lauren Hashian, Chase Infiniti, Finn Wolfhard, and Olivia Wilde, further solidifying his impact on this year’s MET Gala carpet.
Review Score: 9.5/10

Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina was also one of our personal favorites, as she seamlessly bridged the worlds of cinema and fashion with her outfit. Made entirely from film and inspired by the movie Sabrina, her look was designed by Jonathan Anderson for Dior and was exceptionally well executed. It stood out as a defining piece, highlighting how fashion and cinema have long gone hand in hand.
Sabrina, a music icon, has become an important figure in fashion. Each of her looks, whether on stage, in music videos, or during public appearances, continues to be both remarkable and highly anticipated. This ensemble featured a diamond headpiece, a delicate hanging accessory, a netted train, and red-bottom black stiletto heels, creating a cohesive look from head to toe.
It was yet another defining moment on an already legendary night.

Jaafar Jackson
Jaafar Jackson wore a Polo Ralph Lauren suit that represented the timelessness reflected in the recent Michael biopic about his uncle, Michael Jackson. Jaafar told an interviewer that the look was a tribute to his uncle’s career and the significance of telling his life story through film. As this was his first MET Gala, he shared that he was truly enjoying the experience.
Ralph Lauren has consistently delivered quality on the world’s biggest stages, dressing celebrities for the Oscars, Emmys, and many other major events. The Ralph Lauren fashion house has built a reputation for styling people from all backgrounds with precision and excellence. This look stood out as one of our personal favorites, simple, yet impactful.
Review Score: 8.5/10
There were many honorable mentions we wish we could include; however, that’s all for now. Social media definitely had its opinions, with some saying, “The MET underdelivered,” “Some people should not have come at all,” and “Did you see that guy get tackled outside?” It was a lot to take in for one night, but overall, we believe the event was well executed.
From its use of sustainable practices to raising funds for the arts, the MET Gala continues to be a meaningful occasion that celebrates representation across all kinds of backgrounds. We hope to walk the carpet next year.
